CHARITY fundraiser Mike Wightman will tomorrow, Friday, be embarking on the gruelling Three Peaks Challenge - for a second time.

The Three Peaks Challenge consists of scaling Ben Nevis, Snowdon and Scafell Pike - the highest peaks in Scotland, Wales and England - in just 36 hours.

Mike, of St Benedict's Close, Orford, said: "In recent years I have had close friends who have battled with cancer and I would like to raise money in aid of Macmillan Cancer Relief."

Mike, who works as the Town Hall keeper, last did the challenge in 2001 and raised an impressive £600 for charity, and he hopes to raise an even greater amount this time round.

Hundreds of people will participate in the challenge this year, all in hope of completing the climbs and raising money for their chosen charities.

Six months of running, cycling and cardiovascular training have put Mike in a great position to complete the challenge.

He added: "I have been in serious training for the past six months and have fantastic support from all my colleagues."

Mike is looking for a company to sponsor him on the challenge, and he can be contacted on 07764 251087.
