DETECTIVES are still searching for the attacker of an Orford man who was left fighting for his life following a brutal assault in the town centre.

Police are trawling CCTV footage in an attempt to identify the assailant who left the 24-year-old man lying unconscious on Sankey Street at around 2.30am on Sunday, June 1.

The man's condition has now stabilised after he was transferred from Warrington Hospital to Walton Hospital for surgery.

The attack happened outside Specsavers, and the victim was repeatedly kicked in the head and body as he lay on the ground.

The attacker then fled towards Legh Street. He is described as a white man, aged between 18 and 30, 5ft 10in tall, of medium build, and he was wearing a black vest with large armholes.
