POLICE have bailed a 16-year-old Lymm schoolboy following a fight after a GCSE exam which left another pupil in hospital.

The 16-year-old was arrested last Thursday on suspicion of assault following the incident when police were called to Lymm High School at 11.15am.

A 15-year-old from Grappenhall received head injuries in the incident and was taken to hospital but has since been discharged.

Malcolm Roxburgh, director of education and lifelong learning, said: "We are aware of an incident that happened outside the school grounds on Thursday morning when pupils were leaving, following an examination.

"Immediately they became aware of the problem, the school called for an ambulance and police assistance and a year 11 pupil from Lymm High School, who was found badly hurt, was taken to hospital.

"The school is giving police its full support.

However, as this incident is subject to a police investigation it would be inappropriate for us to comment any further."

The 16-year-old has been bailed by police until June 26.
