YOUNG people in Warrington are bucking the 'buy now pay later' trend and harking back to the days when you would only buy something when you could afford it.

In a recent survey conducted by Britannia Building Society, 30 per cent of 18- to 30-year-olds said that they would prefer a healthy savings account to a social life.

Nine out of 10 people questioned said that being in control of their cash gives them more freedom.

And 87 per cent would rather have a few quid tucked away than a champagne lifestyle and a private jet.
