THE funeral took place recently of Herbert Tomlinson of Leftwich who died on May 13 at Leighton Hospital aged 75 years.
The service took place at Northwich Parish Church and was followed by interment in Northwich Cemetery. The Reverend Dawson officiated.
Herbert (Tonk) was born in Northwich on September 21 1927, he attended Witton Boys and Danebridge Schools.
In his younger days he was a good swimmer and enjoyed singing and playing the piano accordion. He met his wife Irene while based in Edinburgh serving in RAF and they were married at Witton Church Northwich 54 years ago.
Herbert's working life was spent at ICI, British Rail, Joseph Parks and Henry Smith. He played darts and dominoes and enjoyed the odd pint or two. He was a loving and caring family man, who will be sadly missed by his wife Irene, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
