A POWERFUL performance from the Warrington Wolves Academy under 18s forwards laid the foundation for a deserved 28-24 win at Featherstone Rovers.
Warrington were never behind but a dogged Featherstone team drew level three times.
The scoring followed a see-saw nature with tries by Matthew Pitt, Phil Berry, Ian Wilkinson and Steve Dykes leaving the teams at 18-18 for half-time.
Craig Ashall put Warrington ahead but Featherstone hit back again to make it 24-24.
Steve Pickersgill used his strength to force his way over for what turned out to be the winning score.
Amazingly, after what had gone on before, there was no further score in the final 18 minutes of the game.
Wolves' next game will be against Keighley Cougars on Sunday at Wilderspool, kick-off 12.30pm.
