A CREWE singer is looking to become this summer's pop sensation, with a homage to junk food to be released on Monday.

With its irritating tune, nursery-rhyme lyrics and unadulterated cheesiness, The Fast Food Song looks destined for the top of the charts.

Crewe-born Lucy Meggitt is one third of the squeaky clean Fast Food Rockers who are hoping the tune will turn them into household names.

Already a favourite with the major music channels, the tune was penned by Mike Stock, of Stock, Aiken and Waterman fame.

Lucy, together with Watford-born brunette Ria, 20, and 19-year-old Martin from Pembrokeshire, are hoping the song will become a dancefloor hit in the vein of last year's The Ketchup Song.

Lucy, 21, who admits a penchant for fish and chips and dirty dancing, made her first public performance as a teddy bear singing Teddy Bears Picnic.

She lists her speciality as 'being bendy'.

She said: "The Fast Food Song is just a bit of fun really.

"Everyone will know the chorus - I used to sing it at Girl Guides when I was little.

"Mike Stock wrote the rest of the words, and it was a fantastic experience working with someone like him, who made people like Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan famous.

"At the moment we're touring all over the country and singing the song in shopping centres and schools.

"We're having a real laugh promoting it and getting some great feedback from people.

"We were in Stoke recently and the people were really supportive - I love northerners and I'd really love to get to number one for them."

Despite the song, the Fast Food Rockers don't manage to eat much fast food.

Lucy added: "We're always really busy so we need to eat food that gives us lots of energy. We don't mind having the odd McDonalds or KFC, but we mostly eat pasta or rice dishes."
