TWO teenagers, who attend Barnton Youth Club, were treated to a residential activity weekend in Buxton - thanks to Northwich Rotary Club.

David Andrews, aged 13 and Robert (Pixie) Lang, aged 14, were chosen as a thank you for their hard work at the youth club.

Club organiser Sarah Carter had a phone call from Juan Cunliffe from the Northwich Rotary Club asking if there was anyone, who could develop leadership skills and might benefit from the weekend.

David, of Astbury Drive and Robert, of Lydyett Lane, were chosen and took part in rock climbing, abseiling, hill walking and mountain biking.

At the end of the course they were presented with a certificate.

Sarah said: "We chose them because they are really good helpers in the youth club.

"It was a treat and thanks for what they had done and also of benefit to them."

David said: "It was a brilliant weekend and although the weather wasn't brilliant I thoroughly enjoyed it."

Juan Cunliffe, of Northwich Rotary Club said: "This is the second year we have been involved in the Rotary Youth Leadership Award Schme.

"We consider it a proper way to be spending money. We usually put the money for young people in to schools.

"This is a way of helping young people to gain leadership skills."

l The youth club is looking for more volunteers to help out on Tuesday nights.

There are currently 90 youngsters and more help is needed.

Children aged from seven to 11 meet form 6pm to 8pm and students aged from 12 to 16 meet form 8pm to 10pm.
