A FEAST of runs were on the menu at Lyons Lane on Saturday as Appleton entertained Hartford in the Shammah Nicholls Cheshire Cricket Alliance.

The visitors were put into bat on a flat batting track and to the frustration of the bowlers scored 250 runs for the loss of only two wickets.

Appleton came close but ran out of overs as they scored 221-4. Andy Hurst scored a magnificent 124 not out.

The seconds faired better in another nail biter at Hartford.

Solid knocks by Dave Darbyshire, 43 and Al Rogers, 37, took Appleton to 160-5.

Great bowling by Danny Oliver and Andy Long, who took three wickets each, helped to bowl out the opposition for 148 with only two balls to spare.

A controversial no ball incident ended the third team's game at home to Bunbury.

Mike Jones, 28 and Tom Lomas, 23 not out, boosted Appleton to 137-7 and some excellent bowling and fielding held Bunbury to 137- 7 with Bunbury needing one run to win off the last over.

Mike Jones bowled a no ball which was not called by the umpire and Bunbury failed to get the run they needed leaving the scores tied.
