A HANDICAP and a top card from B. Turner helped Newtown defeat Whitecross 218-213 in Warrington Public Parks' Bowls League's Guardian Challenge Cup.
Turner triumphed 21-4. Good support came from T. Wrench, 21-12, while D. Newton, 21-6 and L. Wells, 21-10, impressed for Whitecross.
Orford One lost 237-230 to Reflecta despite S. Wellbelove's 21-8 success. Reflecta's best performers were D. Ellison, 21-12 and C. Morris, 21-14.
Victoria One defeated St. Elphins One 229-202 with B. Mills taking their sweep 21-7 and A. Ayres, A. Price and F. Smith all winning 21-1. St. Elphins had good returns via D. Drury, 21-11 and K. Hughes, 21-13.
King and Queen edged cup holders Lovely Lane 211-207. They had match winning cards from P. Deakin, 21-5 and R. Boardman, 21-13.
In the Supplementary Cup, Bank Two B overcame a handicap to beat Richmonds 225-222. Their men on form were H. Singleton, 21-13 and D. Dale, 21-14.
Stockton Heath defeated St. Elphins Two 221-204 while a depleted Alexandra Park side were beaten 238-164 by Penketh BC.
The aces in the pack for Heath were J. Robinson, 21-6 and S. Peever, 21-9. G. Leishman, 21-6, shone for Penketh.
A good card from K. Ashcroft, 21-4, clinched a 219-210 victory for Victoria Two at the expense of Daresbury Lab.
