WARRINGTON'S former Mayor, Clr George Warburton, has presented the £20,000 he raised from his year in office to his chosen charities.

Clr Warburton has agreed to split the money he raised between St Rocco's Hospice and the Warrington MS Society.

He handed over the money in a ceremony at the Town Hall last week.

Meanwhile the town's new Mayor, Clr Pauline Nelson, has revealed the details of her chosen charity for the forthcoming 12 months.

The 120th Mayor has unveiled her appeal, Project 12 19, which aims to improve the life chances of youngsters aged between 12 and 19.

Clr Nelson said: "Through Project 12 19 I will be working with young people in a number of ways to help give them greater opportunities to develop their capabilities and fulfil their potential. They have a lot to offer, they are our future and they need our support.

"In previous years, both individuals, organisations and businesses have given their support to a wide range of Mayor's charity appeals. I do hope that support will be available to Project 12 19 and, thereby, play a part in 'changing views, improving lives'.

"I hope the people of Warrington will provide as many platforms as possible to enable our young people to express their capabilities and talents."
