Springers trio jumping for joy

THREE Sankey Springers Trampoline Club members were jumping for joy on Sunday after shinning at the Stockport Grades.

Jane Tate secured gold medal glory in the under 15s grade four competition.

She also earned promotion to grade three, as did Lucy Norris, who competed in the u11s section of the 200-strong north west event.

Karin McClure narrowly missed out on jumping up to grade three but she did win a bronze medal in the u15s grade four.

Fantastic run

SPECTRUM Striders' Steve Burthem ran fantastically to finish fourth in the Kettleshulme Village Fell Race.

He clocked 42mins 5secs for a six miles course that included an opening mile over a field grazed by cows, a deep rocky stream and then up a half mile ascent that reduced all runners to walking pace.

Burthem, who is also a member of Warrington Athletics Club, was only four minutes behind the winner Malcolm Foster from Pennine.

Nev Griffiths finished 55th and Geoff Settle 121st.
