A TRIP to Holland beckons for multi-talented athlete Sarah Vandewalle after being selected to represent her country for the first time.

The 15-year-old from Westbrook has been called up to compete for the Great Britain Youth squad in the Veluwecup international tetrathlon competition.

Sarah will be up against Europe's best swimmers, runners, air pistol shooters and fencers in the 15-16 age group section and she can not wait to get started.

Her mum Linda said: "Sarah is very excited. It is her first chance to show what she can do at international level and she will leave for Holland on June 19."

Sarah was selected for the Dutch event on the back of her quality performances in the world class start and potential programme.

The Warrington Athletics Club member is building up to competing in the modern pentathlon and has booked in for horse riding lessons in Croft.
