WARRINGTON North MP Helen Jones rolled her sleeves up and applied some much needed elbow grease to a community bus.

The politician was at Warrington Community Transport headquarters on Athlone Road on Friday to highlight Volunteers Week 2003.

She was there to help celebrate the valuable work of volunteers and to encourage more people to give their time to good causes.

She said: "Volunteers play a vital part in our communities and their work should be celebrated. I know that the Community Transport Initiative is very much valued in the town but also that it needs more volunteers to maintain the great service it provides."

Mrs Jones continued: "What better time to encourage more people to help than in Volunteers Week and what better way to show my support than by volunteering to help out."

The MP urged people who are interested in helping their local community to contact the relevant groups and get involved.
