LIVELY fundraisers - some in fancy dress - will be lacing up their running shoes on Sunday as the Penketh Fun Run sets off.

The popular event, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, starts and finishes on Greystone Recreation Ground and covers more than three miles.

Entries have been flooding in for the fun run, and the Rev Paul Hockley, vicar of St Paul's Church, has even brought forward the time of his morning service by an hour so that members of his congregation can take part.

The event, organised by Chris and Sylvia Haggett on behalf of Penketh Youth and Community Association, is sponsored by Cockhedge Shopping Park, and manager Tony Park will be presenting the trophies on the day.

There will be prizes for schools and families as well as runners in fancy dress. All funds raised will be donated to community groups in the area. People wanting to support the fun runners should get down to Greystone Recreation Ground for the 10.45am start on Sunday, June 14.
