EXTRA time has been afforded to people looking to protest against controversial housing schemes near Culcheth Linear Park.

People campaigning against plans by Redrow Homes for 39 homes off Hob Hey Lane and Wigshaw Lane had been told they only had until a fortnight ago to make representations.

But the developer is also appealing against the borough council for the non-determination of another outline application for the same site.

Because of this, both appeals will now be heard in tandem and views from villagers and other interested parties can now be submitted up to July 2.

Horse-riding enthusiasts are outraged that the access to the land will be near a linear park bridleway.

They have secured the support of Warrington Cycle Campaign, which has also sent a letter of objection to the planning inspectorate.
