Mr Jozef Jeziorski, husband of the late Mrs Margaret Jeziorski, died on April 15 of heart failure. He was 80.
Mr Jeziorski, of Newhaven Road, Orford, was born in Dubno, Poland, and married and settled in Warrington after the Second World War.
He served in the Polish Navy on convoy escort duties during the war, and took part in the Normandy landings. He was employed as a boilerman at Rylands Whitecross for 38 years, then continued to work for the same company as a part-time gardener after his retirement.
He enjoyed family holidays, gardening, listening to the radio and watching television.
He leaves a son, a daughter, five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A service was held on April 28 at Sacred Heart RC Church, followed by cremation at Walton Lea. The Rev Fathers Richard Ebo and Bernard Parkes officiated.
Arrangements were made by Co-operative Funeral Services.
