Mrs Irene Forber, wife of the late Mr Edward Forber, died on April 30, aged 79.

Mrs Forber, of Lander Close, Old Hall, formerly of Spurling Road, Burtonwood, lived in Warrington all her life.

She enjoyed watching TV soaps and football, holidays, visiting Malta, Norfolk and the Isle of Wight, active community work, socialising with family and friends, and in 1953 she organised a street party to celebrate the Queen's coronation.

Up until a few months ago she still loved dancing (particularly jiving), and during the war she danced with the legendary Glenn Miller when he came to Burtonwood airbase.

A service was held on May 9 at St Michael's Church, Burtonwood, followed by cremation at Walton Lea. The Rev W Alexander officiated.

Arrangements were made by Knox & Son.
