Mrs Violet Appleton, wife of the late Mr Arthur Appleton, died of heart disease on October 30. She was 89.
Mrs Appleton, of Chapelcross Road, Fearnhead, lived in Warrington all her life.
She was employed as a weaver at Armitage & Rigby Ltd, and was a shopkeeper on Longford Street. During the war she served with the fire service.
In her youth, Mrs Appleton was a county standard table tennis player, and she loved singing.
She leaves three sons, four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A service was held on November 7 at Walton Lea, followed by cremation. The Rev M Kelly officiated.
