A RAILWAY bridge in Frodsham is getting a facelift thanks to community organisations working together.
Members of Frodsham Forward held a meeting in March to bring together key partners interested in improving the town's railway station.
The meeting was attended by more than 20 representatives from organisations such as Network Rail, Railway Heritage, British Transport Police and supported by authorities including Frodsham Town Council, Vale Royal Borough Council and Cheshire County Council, and was hailed a resounding success.
It has been announced this week that a commitment has been made from Network Rail to undertake the long-awaited refurbishment of the bridge on Church Street and to carry out improvements to tidy the station area and embankments.
The Heritage Economic Regeneration Scheme (HERS) team will complement the refurbishment by providing new signage to welcome visitors to Frodsham.
Philip Briggs, chairman of Frodsham Forward's transport group, said: "We are delighted with this very positive move from Network Rail.
"It is a clear example of how working together we can improve key local sites."
Frodsham Forward Partnership was established just over a year ago to help identify and fulfil ambitions of this nature in the town. Its aims are to develop effective partnerships, attract investment and to influence change.
The Frodsham Forward office, on High Street, will re-open for consultation during May on Mondays to Wednesdays between 10am to 2pm and Saturday mornings, 10am to noon.
