READING Mr Higginson's letter last week I was reminded what fools some amateur politicians can be.

He criticises a stadium that has helped put our area on the map in the media and elsewhere. He thinks the main measure of success should be a financial return on the investment.

His election campaigning with local sports clubs must be fascinating.

If you are not making money out of keeping kids off the street and encouraging a healthier lifestyle (not to mention enjoying yourself) you're a loser according to this guy.

But let us be generous to Mr Higginson - you want a return on your investment?

Fine, how much would it cost to pay for the media exposure alone that the stadium achieves each year when competing with others to draw jobs and investment into the area?

What price do you put on the hundreds of weddings that families have had there?

He obviously doesn't realise sport and other activities at the stadium are very important to many in this community.

Perhaps his party's campaign people can re-educate him - he seems to know the price of everything and the value of nothing.
