COMMUNICATIONS giant Vodafone brought some Easter cheer to the children's ward at Warrington Hospital last week.

Staff from the company's Birchwood call centre donated sweets and cuddly toys to the ward and presented them to the children.

Jane Scott, lead nurse of children's services at Warrington Hospital, said: "The children very much appreciated the Easter eggs and toys kindly given by Vodafone. All the staff here at the hospital are delighted to see there is so much support from the community and local businesses."

Vodafone staff Mark Simmons, Claire Smith, Sharon Blakeman and Lian Martin visited the hospital to hand deliver the gifts to the children.

Mark Simmons, Vodafone's community and internal relations co-ordinator, said: "Our social team felt it would be a good idea to try to brighten up the lives of the children over Easter. After discussions we decided on an Easter egg and teddy bear appeal and the response was overwhelming.

"We all feel passionately about helping people and this was a chance for us to make a real difference and the fact that Vodafone support this and promotes this type of work is even better, especially for our staff volunteers."
