A LISTED 18th century building could soon be turned into private accommodation, surrounded by 121 apartments.
Manchester Ship Canal Company plans to convert Bridgewater House in Percival Lane, Runcorn into five apartments and erect blocks of flats in the grounds.
Bridgewater House was built in 1771 for the third Duke of Bridgewater, so he and his engineers could supervise the construction of the Bridgewater Canal.
The proposed development includes 66 one bedroom apartments, 54 two bedroom apartments and one three bedroom apartment.
The accommodation would be erected in three separate modern buildings - two at five storeys and one up to 11 storeys.
Councillors are recommended to approve the scheme at the development control and licensing committee on April 20.
