COCAINE, vodka, whisky and hammers were seized by police after drunken teenagers went on a string of binges.

Pictured is only half of the booze, weapons and drug wraps confiscated over three weekends from 'hot spots' in Runcorn Old Town, Murdishaw and Palacefields.

Police warned parents to take more responsibility for their children.

Sgt Andy Delooze of the Community Action Team, said: "They need to speak to their kids when they come into the house, not in the morning.

"There's a lot of parental responsibility that's not being carried out."

Teenagers often avoid their parents, he said, when they come home drunk so they're kept in the dark.

A police style extendable baton was found in Runcorn Old Town, a catapult discovered in Murdishaw and a hammer retrieved from Palacefields.

Three wraps of cannabis were also seized - and a wrap of cocaine from a 19-year-old in Palacefields.

Problems

Police also warn drinking can cause long-term health problems for youths and make them vulnerable to crime.

Sgt Dave Bamber said most kids were not out to cause any trouble: "But it's the kids who drink who cause the trouble that attract the public and the police's attention."

Almost 1,000 litres have been confiscated or poured away in the last year.

Alco-pops appear to be out and old fashioned lager is on the way back, with Stella the teenagers' top drink.

A rare seizure of a bottle whisky was also among the latest haul.
