WARRINGTON welterweight Mark Mathews will be topping the bill in an England versus Belgium Thai boxing event at the Parr Hall on Sunday.

The 24-year-old Warrington Kick Boxing Studio star will lock horns with the experienced Bruno Rucci from the Osman gym.

Rucci has 24 fights under his belt but Matthews will fancy his chances of recording a win.

The Padgate fighter is the fourth ranked welterweight in Great Britain and he is determined to help England come out on top on Sunday.

The other England versus Belgium bouts will see British lightweight number one Richard Cadden take on Jellal Echaouchi and Andy Howson do battle with Nico Verezen in a WPKL European title eliminator.

Cadden is a member of the Bad Company gym in Leeds while Echaouchi is another experienced Osman gym star.

He has had more than 20 fights and will soon be challenging for the WKN European title.

Howson is also a member of Bad Company and at 19 he is already Britain's number one in his weight division.

But he should be given a tough test on Sunday.

Verezen is considered to be one of Belgium's brightest prospects having beaten the experienced Chris Heynemann in November 2003.

Warrington Kick Boxing Studio's Dave Leffler and Chris Cronin will also be in action at the Parr Hall on Sunday.

Leffler will take on Birkenhead's Jamie McDonough and Cronin will fight Kaish Bangor.

There will also be a WPKL women's title bout between Prestwich's Becky Berry and Rage Gym's Emma Armour and the other kick boxers set to take part are Michelle Preston, Nathan Liptrot, Nicola Fearnley, Michelle Grizzle, Eric Deccarirere and Daniel Bank.

Tickets for the event, which starts at 6pm, can be bought on the door or purchased via Neil Holden on 07973 431818.

They cost £40 for ringside seats and £20 for everywhere else.
