FAMILIES with terminally ill children are set to benefit from a charity set up in memory of little Jacob Hawthorn, who died earlier this year from congenital muscular dystrophy.

Jacob, aged three, from Woolston, had just returned from a dream trip to EuroDisney where he met all his favourite characters, when he peacefully passed away.

Now Jacob's family have set up a charity in his memory.

JUMP, Jacob's Unique Memory Pot, will provide families with terminally ill children with the chance to capture precious and priceless moments that can be cherished forever.

Jump's first fundraising event was held on Easter Sunday. It was an 80s themed disco and raised £1,000.

The charity will loan equipment like video or digital cameras and other recording equipment to families and then produce a DVD, video or a photo album for them.

And the charity has produced a wish list of items needed to help get the charity off the ground.

Along with the vital recording equipment, other items such as PC accessories, camera phones, DVD and video players, printers and stationary equipment from inks to paper are much needed.

Donations are also welcome, as is sponsorship for a number of forthcoming events.

Jacob's grandma, Christine Hawthorn, chairman of JUMP, said: "Help could even be in the form of advertising your company on corner flags or shirts during a charity football match or donating your services as a raffle prize or by sponsoring an event.

"As JUMP expands our goal would be to send these families to dream destinations like EuroDisney or eventful days with someone there to record the special day.

"We have unique memories of Jacob and found it very comforting seeing our pictures and videos of Jacob enjoying himself and we would like to provide the same comfort and help to other families."
