A PARTIALLY-SIGHTED teenager was taken to hospital with facial injuries after he was kicked and punched by a gang of youths.

The 19-year-old, who rarely leaves the house, was set upon as he walked his dog through Orford Park on Good Friday.

He was left covered in blood and suffered mouth injuries and scars to his head. He received treatment at Warrington Hospital for a possible broken nose and damaged teeth following the assault at around 7.30pm. He was discharged from hospital later that evening.

The teenager was confronted by a group of 10 youths who were sitting drinking alcohol on a park bench. Police say that two gang members attacked him.

The teenager's mother condemned the attack, saying: "I'm so angry. He's a quiet lad who was minding his own business. I can't believe this has happened in the middle of the afternoon."
