Mr Wilfred Oakes, husband of Mrs Ethel Oakes, died on March 7, aged 88.
Mr Oakes, of Capesthorne Road, Orford, lived in Warrington all his life.
He was employed as a labourer with Warrington Borough Council, and served with the Army in Burma and the Far East during the Second World War.
Mr Oakes enjoyed playing darts for the R & D Club as well as other clubs within the town.
He was a supporter of Warrington Wolves and enjoyed music, especially brass bands.
He leaves his wife and daughter.
A service was held on March 15 at St Oswald's Church, Winwick, followed by interment at Christ Church, Padgate. The Rev Bob Lewis officiated.
Arrangements were made by Knox & Son.
