A ROBBER armed with a handgun stole cash from a security guard who was making a delivery at a town-centre post office.

The crook, said to be a muscular six-footer, grabbed a cash box from the guard at College Street post-office. He then escaped down an alleyway which leads in the direction of Fox Place where it is believed he could have left in a silver car.

The offender is thought to be aged between 30 and 35. He was wearing a dark waterproof waste-length jacket, dark trousers and a dark hat.

Police are appealing for information about the incident which happened at about 1.35pm on Wednesday, April 7. They add that the security guard was not injured during the robbery.
