Orrell St James 13 Haydock 26 HAYDOCK progressed to the Premiership Cup semi-finals with a workmanlike performance.
The visitors were always in control, combining good attack with excellent defence.
Haydock opened the scoring with a Forber drop goal before Orrell replied with a penalty. But once Haydock regained the lead with a try by Tickle - goaled by Forber - after good work by Haughey and Marsh, they never looked like losing it.
Orrell added another penalty and a drop goal but by the interval Haydock had made it 13-5 with a try by Shaw and a penalty by Forber.
And within 10 minutes of the re-start they had the game virtually wrapped up with further tries by Marsh, from a break by Saunders, and Tickle's second, courtesy of Rigby. A Forber conversion made it 23-5.
Orrell took advantage of temporary relaxation in the visiting ranks to grab two unconverted tries, but Haydock rounded off the scoring with a penalty and a drop goal by Haughey.
Best for the winners were Bloor, Marsh, Haughey, Cahalin and Saunders.
