ALSAGER Town boss Greg Clowes is looking to bring in new strikers for next season to beef up his struggling attack.

Alsager have been as high as fifth in the table this season, thanks largely to the efforts of striker Andy Kinsey and a superb defence.

In spite of Kinsey's 23 goals Alsager have one of the poorest scoring records this season, and have taken one point out of 18 since their unbeaten run came to an end.

Their latest defeats came at mid-table Atherton LR and Stone Dominoes on Saturday and Monday respectively, where they lost 1-0.

Alsager's dismal run of late has seen them slip from fifth to ninth, and they were due to play their last game on Wednesday against Ramsbottom.

"We can't score goals at the moment, and have scored once in six games," said Clowes.

"The chances are not being taken, and if we are going to progress next season I am going to have to bring in players who can take chances.

"We have only scored 50 goals all season, 23 of which have come from Andy Kinsey."

Atherton took the lead in the first half when Curley ran 40 yards before firing low past keeper Powner.

Espley for Alsager was denied an equaliser by a good save, and a second half headed from Hurley went inches wide.

Rowe fired home for Alsager on the hour, but the goal was ruled out for offside.

Rowe had another shot well saved, and an effort from Bayley flew just over.

Stone scored on 15 minutes with a cross shot with beat Powner.
