THE funeral has taken place of Daisy Mackie, who died in hospital on April 3, aged 80. She was born in Cuddington Hollows where she was brought up.
On leaving school, Daisy was employed at Horner's Creamery in Cuddington. During the war she moved to ICI.
She met her late husband, Sid, who was serving in the armed forces and they married at St John's Church, Sandiway, in 1943. She moved to Russett Road in Weaverham in 1948 and remained in Weaverham until her death.
Well known in the village, Daisy was employed at Wallerscote Primary School for 30 years. Among her interests was ballroom dancing with her husband at Winnington Recreation Club and other local venues. She was also a keen whist player.
Devoted to her family, she leaves sons Roy and Paul, daughter Sandra, grandchildren Marcia, Karen and Michael, great grandchildren Lauren, Sarah, Jenny and Kathryn and sister Mildred.
The service was held at Weaverham Parish Church and was followed by cremation at Walton Lea. The Rev Ridley officiated. There were family floral tributes and donations for Cuddington Methodist Church.
Arrangements were by Nagel Bros, Acton Bridge.
