LOCAL favourites Big Blue House are back in the borough to play their first gig in Haslington's Cosey Club, next Friday.

After recently rocking the mega successful eighth Nantwich Jazz and Blues Festival, the revamped trio are set to finish their UK Blues Club tour tomorrow in support of Chicago bluesman James Wheeler.

It's been a busy few months for BBH who also recorded another session for Paul Jones' Radio 2 show this month and the trend is set to continue.

Gigs aplenty are lined up with an appearance at The Great British Blues Festival in Colne booked for the third year running.

Starting out in '99, the last few months have seen a new era dawn for the band.

Originally a studio-only backing band, a mutual love of blues and R'n'B became apparent and the trio took to the road, playing a variety of festivals nationwide.

Rave reviews followed via top mag Blues In Britain as well as recording session with radio stations.

Since then both drummer Selwyn Bell has departed along with guitarist/vocalist Jim Kirkpatrick to pursue new musical directions.

Founding member Al Dean remains and along with new drummer Padraig Tansey, Big Blue House have taken a new direction.

James Harrison has revitalised the band since completing the new line-up as could be seen at the Nantwich Festival.

See them at the Cosey, live from 9pm.
