I FEEL I must share with your readers a good news story at a time when we are constantly hearing about negative and self-centred behaviour.

Following an increase in anti-social behaviour and vandalism I, as a borough councillor, along with my colleagues decided to increase our monthly surgeries to weekly sessions at Hood Manor Community Centre, in a bid to be on hand for people to come in and discuss any problems over a cup of tea and a biscuit.

At these surgeries we intend to have a variety of local agencies on hand to give advice. At our first such surgery two police constables, Colin Hayes and Jane Maddocks, came along. In fact in order to attend they came on duty two hours early at 10am, having only finished their shift at midnight.

I felt very humbled by such commitment to the local people of Great Sankey and feel that we are moving forward in our efforts to stop the mindless minority who are wrecking our community.

Once again, special thanks to our police constables.
