POLICE officers, using dogs and a helicopter, resumed their search today (Thursday) for missing 21-year-old David Plunkett.

David, from Halifax, went missing on Saturday after becoming separated from a friend at the Budweiser Music Event at Trafford Park's Daytona Racetrack.

Police said today there was a confirmed sighting of David at 12.30am on Saturday night when he was ejected from the event.

Chief Inspector Gill Mellor, from Stretford police, said: "We are very concerned for David's safety as this is completely out of character.

"David, you are not in any trouble but your parents need to know where you are and where you have been. Please make contact.

"If anybody has seen David or a lone person who matches his description, please contact us."

David's parents rang his mobile phone at 1.30am, on Saturday, April 12, and say he sounded disorientated before a scream was heard and the phone went silent.

Police say that they do not yet know for definite that it was David who answered the phone.

Chief Inspector Mellor said: "At the moment we have a number of leads as a result of the media appeal and may have CCTV from premises in Trafford Park."

She continued: "We have got to keep an open mind and we are positive we are going to locate David."

David is described as white, five feet 11 inches tall, average build with dark brown swept back hair, which is collar-length at the back.

He has long thin sideburns and was last seen wearing oblong silver glasses and black pale pink pinstripe trousers and a red/pink shirt.
