THERE was high drama in Warrington Sunday Soccer League's Red Lion Cup final before Turf and Feather emerged as the winners.

A penalty shoot-out was needed after Turf and Callands were unable to add to their 3-3 scoreline in extra time.

Both teams missed two penalties in the shoot-out, which went to sudden death and Turf won 4-3.

Turf had squandered a 3-1 lead in the opening 90 minutes. Two goals by Chris Burrows and a penalty response by Paul Baker made it 2-1 at half-time.

Against the run of play Nathan Wilcox added another for Turf but never-say-die Callands battled on and got their rewards when Graham Whittaker's overhead shot ended up in the back of the net and three minutes later Graham Whittaker scored his second goal.

In the Denis Scholes Challenge Trophy fifth round, Cheshire Hawthorne showed their supremacy by scoring six goals against SHRBL Bridge through Gary Heath, three, Paul Wright, two and Justin Farrelly.

Leigh Borough ended Judell's chances of runners-up medals in Division One when they beat them 4-1 with goals from Mark Gannon, Tony Lewis and Ste Birchall, two.

Dog and Dart versus Stocks ended in a 3-3 draw in Division Two. Dog's scorers were Rob Taylor, Phil Knowles and Jeremy Glover while Andy Valentine, Scott Burrows and Paul Burrows - with a last minute equaliser - replied for Stocks.

Monk Sports beat the leaders Wilkies 3-2 thanks to goals from Colin Harris, two and Anthony Hayes.

Causeway beat Culcheth with goals from John Ellis and Richard Hill, three.

In Division Three, Brooklands had goals from Liam Holbrook, Lee Houghton, two and Mike Buckley, two, in their 5-2 win against Boars Head.

Socrates took Church Green apart and scored five goals through Jed McAllister, three and Dave Yardley, two.

GE Athletic overcame Rams Head 4-1 in Division Four thanks to a double brace of goals from Andrew Taylor and Dave Taylor.

Sandymoor AFC defeated Commercial Exhausts 6-4 with strikes by Rob Powell, Mike Heeley, Gary Johnson, Jimmy Moorcroft and Gary McFadden, two.

Wolf Pack had a 5-1 win against Blackburne Arms with Ste Hitchmough three, Jason Salisbury and Ste Taylor finding the mark while Kings Park beat Dog and Partridge 3-1 with goals from Norman Keane, Byron Garton and Ben Robinson.

Insall Smithys met a red hot FC Barge, who put seven goals in the net through Peter Fairchild, Craig Atkinson, John Dover, Phil Brake, two and Chris Hughes, two.
