THE leader of a pioneering youth project in Warrington, which could fold due to lack of funds, is not giving up his fight to save the scheme.

Warrington Youth Action (WYA) was set up to give young people the chance to boost their own confidence by playing an active part in the lives of others.

Dave Betts, chairman of WYA, is trying to raise cash to keep the scheme alive after the grant, which has sustained it for the past two years, dried up.

Mr Betts is hoping that an application to the Building Safer Communities Fund, which is administered by Warrington Borough Council and Cheshire Police, will be successful.

He is also meeting with the Association of Secondary Head Teachers next month to see if they can help provide financial support.

Anyone interested in helping out can contact Mr Betts on 419102.
