INTERESTED in local history?

Here's a chance to take part in an exciting project.

The search is on to find volunteers willing to help the community of West Bank capture their history.

"I am looking for people who could spare a few hours a week either researching the archives or receiving items at collection points around Widnes," said Fiona Jenkins, project development officer.

"Full support will be given to them and they will be making a lasting contribution to preserving West Bank history."

A week long heritage festival is being held at St Mary's Church, culminating in a festival day on Sunday, September 12.

The project has been made possible, thanks to a £37,000 heritage lottery fund grant.

"People's stories are fascinating," said Fiona. "I'm looking forward to meeting everyone."
