TWO excellent gigs paid a fitting tribute to the Queens Hall as it closed as a live venue.

The Final Curtain gig was the last Fused show for under 18s.

"Despite starting at 3pm, we still could not fit on all the excellent young bands who wanted to play," said Jaki Florek of Loose Music Collective.

"We have a great history of musical talent in this area, and it's great to see that it continues to flourish. It was a brilliant atmosphere, and the venue was full to capacity."

Just some of the bands featured were Pangaea, Tish, Peroxide Blue, Evil Psychobitch, Mercury, Twisted Nipple, and the show closed with local heroes Zen Baseballbat.

The final event was the 'Closing Time' show last week.

It featured up and coming young bands as well as many of Halton's more established performers.

With two stages set up, it was non-stop music all night.

Jaki said: "Organiser Greg Oldfield played the last spot on the acoustic stage, and the wonderful Halfway To Eddie's closed the show on the main stage, with many members of the audience joining them on stage for the last song!"

Some of the acts featured were Halton School Of Samba, Clive Little, Al Roberts, Coalhouse, Loki, The Andy Steele Band, The Field and The Chimps.

Jaki said: "Many thanks to all who played and all who worked on these events - fitting tributes to The Queens Hall, a venue with a history to be proud of."

The next Fused gig is at The Brindley Arts Centre in Runcorn on July 31. For info, call Jaki on 01928-566261 or e-mail jaki.florek@virgin.net.
