A WIDOWER who has survived three heart attacks says he's been made a prisoner in his own home by local yobs.

John Crawley says the youngsters regularly throw bricks and stones at his house and shout abuse.

"I can't go on like this," said a distraught John.

"Nobody will help us. Why are these yobs doing this to me? They know I'm disabled and my wife died a couple of years ago."

John, 58, lives with his 26-year-old son Mark in Bournemouth Close, Murdishaw.

He has had three heart attacks and has to take 18 heart tablets a day.

Mark said: "My dad gets stressed out with it and he gets a pain down his left arm. We have got to give him a spray, but he wants to go outside and do something about the kids, but I say 'no, we will phone the bobbies'.

"What these yobs are trying to do is force us to move and we don't want to go. My dad doesn't want to move out because of all the memories of my mum."

The family said the trouble started around 12 months ago.

A smashed window last Tuesday night was the last straw and they phoned the police, who said they would be round the following day.

"When we phoned the next day the police said they would be 20 minutes - we were still waiting more than three hours later," said John.

"I am absolutely fed up, I just can't cope. We shouldn't have to put up with this. It's like the yobbos are getting away with it."

A Cheshire police spokesperson said: "We are aware of an incident on Bournemouth Close which is being looked into by members of the Community Action Team and inquiries are on going."

A spokesperson for housing landlords Riverside, said: "We are working with the police and the neighbourhood wardens to tackle the anti-social behaviour.

"This is a very difficult issue which affects lots of tenants and residents on the estate and we are working hard to identify the perpetrators and ensure they are dealt with through the proper legal channels."
