GOLBORNE Cricket Club's first team endured another woeful weekend.

They lost to Atherton in a league game and Morecambe in a Lancashire Knockout cup clash but the weekend was not a complete washout for the club as Golborne Seconds recorded their first win of the season.

They thrashed near neighbours Atherton Seconds by nine wickets after bowling the visitors out for only 122 runs.

Ormshaw picked up three wickets while Makinson and Partridge took two each.

The star of Golborne's reply was Mercer. He hit 60 runs and good support came from Carr, 36 and Makinson, 12.

Golborne's first team's batting was less impressive in their double header.

They made only 119 in their eight-wicket defeat to Morecambe despite professional Shah's 65 not out.

And they hit only 135 against Atherton despite spirited displays by Crompton, 33 and Marston, 29.

Skipper Marston also took three wickets in the 45-run reverse.
