WHEN you walk through Warrington town centre, the amount of new fast food bars that are popping up everywhere shows why the percentage of obese children has drastically risen in the past few years.

There is a McDonalds, Burger King and kebab shops - every type of junk food that you could imagine.

But how many healthy sandwich bars do you see?

You always see someone walk past you munching on a burger or slurping a large coke, but do we realise how much the fast food business is really affecting us?

We are being warned that soon being too fat could kill more Britons than smoking, so why are we not as aware of this fact as we are of the dangers of smoking?

Being labelled as fat hurts and one in 100 girls suffer from eating disorders, such as anorexia or bulimia, as a result of this teasing.

But is it really our fault that we eat so much fast food and do less exercise?

I was gob smacked when I found out that a beef burger from a well known fast food empire has 493 calories and it would take 2.5 hours (7 miles) just to walk the fat off.

Personally, I would rather leave out fast food and not add to the growing percentage of overweight children.
