A NEW section has been added to Winwick's annual garden competition.
A spokesman said: "Recognising a growing trend towards container gardening, this year we are having, as well as our normal judging of the overall best kept garden, a special section for gardeners who prefer planters and hanging baskets to the more traditional gardening methods."
Anyone interested in entering the competition can write to Les Higgins, clerk to the parish council, PO Box 348, Wigan, WN3 6WA, for an application form.
Entries must be in by the end of June.
The winning entries will be announced on Saturday, October 16, during the annual parish council evening.
