WARRINGTON learned from their 50-20 St Helens disaster how to turn a negative into a positive as the 34-18 defeat of Wigan showed a fortnight ago.

Widnes Vikings turned round their 70-point loss to succeed against Wolves at the weekend and Warrington skipper Lee Briers is hoping that he and his teammates will carry these thoughts through preparations for Saturday's battle with London Broncos.

He said: "Hopefully we can do what Widnes have done. We've got to stick together and then hopefully get the win against London."

Consistency is affecting many sides in Super League at the moment and for Wolves it has resulted in them slipping to eighth in the table.

Briers, clearly downbeat because of the team's Jekyl and Hyde showings, said: "If I could put my finger on it, we'd win every game. It's disappointing.

"I think it comes down to one word - attitude. It's what's in people's minds, it's about aiming up.

"Maybe we think we're better than what we are and we're not. We're not there yet."

Half backs Briers and Nat Wood did not look at their best against Widnes.

Briers said: "Nat had a bang on his arm. The after effects of a bang I took at the end of the game against Wigan were catching up with me. I was feeling very ill and was sick and just had to get through it really."

Head coach Paul Cullen was scathing in his reflections of the Widnes defeat.

He said: "The fight in the Widnes players was far greater than the fight in the Warrington players and the lack of ambition of a number of our senior players is sending alarm bells ringing throughout our club."

And he went on to say: "There were a number of players within our squad who have a right to be thoroughly ashamed of the way they performed or the way they did not perform."
