ASTLE pool provided great sport for a Warrington Anglers' Association member over the weekend.

John Craddock caught mirror carp of 18lbs 4ozs 0drms and 13lbs, two commons of 13lbs and also five bream averaging 4lbs apiece.

Simon Jones had some good action there too with roach and perch falling for waggler and loose fed maggot.

Ackers Pit is easy fishing, ask any of our junior members!

Kieron Emmett, aged 14, fished maggot and paste on the pole at 10 metres for a mixed catch of roach and bream.

Youngsters are also targeting the carp and John Rhodes had two mirrors of 8-6-0, 6-4-0 and a grass carp of 8-11-0 on float-fished boilie.

The Bridgewater Canal has been fishing well with good catches reported from Broadheath Marina, Thelwall, Moore, Keckwick and Preston Brook. Bill Pickles reported some quality roach caught on caster from Keckwick.

A massive shoal of bream was spotted by a member as he fished at Timperley and yet all he could catch was roach, perch and gudgeon.

Cicily Mill Pool has been providing some good sport courtesy of tench, crucians and bream but it is fishing better in the evenings.

We are now on countdown to the opening of the coarse fish season on our rivers on Wednesday. Prospects look good but perhaps a little rain over the weekend will ensure some really good sport.

Our webmaster Julian Smallman does a fantastic job in the design and running of our site. However, we are always looking for ideas to improve the site so if any members out there have any ideas or expertise in this area then get in touch with either Julian at www.gaincircuit.com or myself as below.

One popular aspect of the site is the open forum which is intended for the use of existing and potential members solely to pass on catch information, methods used and general angling advice for the benefit of all. This has worked brilliantly and many members have benefited by improved catches. However, there have been several issues concerning fishery management which should be addressed in the usual way, either at the annual meeting, headquarters on a Friday night or direct to me via e-mail, letter or telephone.

Contact me with any catch reports on 01928 716238, fax 713898 or e-mail frank@warrington-anglers.org.uk. HQ Parker Street will open as usual tomorrow, Friday, between 7pm and 9.30pm for new members and subscriptions.
