POLICE are appealing for help in tracing two muggers that attacked a teenager as he was walking home from work on Saturday night.

The victim, aged 17, was walking home along Wilderspool Causeway at around 11.35pm after working a shift at a pub in the town centre.

He walked down London Road, turned right on to Walton Road and then walked down an alleyway to the Carlisle Street car park.

It was at this point that two men approached him. They asked him for a cigarette and then for directions to Latchford village and the use of his mobile phone.

When he refused the two men shoved him against a parked car and punched him in the face and head a number of times before stealing his phone.

The offenders then fled in the direction of Stockton Heath village.

The men are described as being white and around 18 or 19 years old.

The first man was around 5ft 9in tall, scruffy and wearing a cream Adidas jumper and navy blue tracksuit pants.

The second man was around 5ft 11in tall, had gelled hair and was wearing dark sports clothes and black trainers.
