THE man who has this week bought a 73 per cent stake in the company which owns Warrington's Super League club and new stadium says the club will continue to run as normal.

Lifelong fan Simon Moran did not want to see shares getting into the hands of those who may not have the club's best interests at heart.

So Mr Moran, a Wolves director of six years, has acquired Warrington Sports Holdings shares from numerous parties to gain a controlling interest in the club he loves and he is looking forward to a bright future in his non-executive role.

But he will not be getting involved in the day-to-day running of the Wolves' affairs.

Mr Moran, who was born in Warrington and studied at Woolston High School but who now lives in Manchester, said: "In a way, this is like any business. There are shareholders and there are the executives. Andy Gatcliffe is our chief executive and Lord Hoyle is the chairman. Ultimately, they report to the board of directors who ultimately report to the shareholders. This isn't my main business. I'm very busy doing what I do business-wise and so I can't devote a lot of time. The people who are running the club day-to-day are doing a good job."
