TEENAGERS in Penketh have decided to speak out in the face of growing reports about anti-social youths to say 'we're not all the same'.

And they argue that there are limited places for them to meet up because there are no facilities for them in the area.

Laura Spiers, aged 14, and her friends, who attend Penketh High School, say that they are tired of being tarred with the same brush as nuisance youths.

Laura, who lives in Phythian Crescent, said: "There are people who go out and get drunk on a Friday night but not everybody is like that."

She also responded to reports of parents being concerned about groups of youths hanging around the newly revamped children's play area on Greystone Recreation Ground.

Mums told the Warrington Guardian last week that they were worried that the much-needed playground would be spoiled.

Laura said: "Every time we are there adults come over and tell us off but we have got nothing else to do. We would just like to be able to go to the park without anybody telling us off."

One 17-year-old, who did not wish to be named, made a call for a skate park in the area. He said: "There is nothing on this side of town for us to do. If a small skate park was built then it would be somewhere for us to go."

The youngsters put their arguments forward following numerous reports of anti-social gangs congregating around the Heath Road area, Honiton Square, Fiddler's Ferry Yacht Haven and Gatewarth Tip.
