Mrs Honora (Nora) Birchall, wife of Mr Walter Birchall, died of Alzheimer's disease/chronic obstructive airways disease on May 4. She was 91.

Mrs Birchall, of Chestnut House, Bridge Lane, Appleton, formerly of Northway, Longford, lived in Warrington all her life.

She was first employed in a local factory as a weaver, then joined the Co-operative Stores, and later worked in the canteen of the Warrington GPO in Springfield Street.

Mrs Birchall was involved with St Stephen's parish and was a member of the over-60s club, the social club and, through her husband's work, the Knights of St Columba and St Vincent De Paul.

She went on pilgrimages to Lourdes, Fatima and Walsingham with her husband and many friends.

Mrs Birchall leaves her husband, a daughter, two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A service was held on May 13 at St Stephen's Church, prior to interment at Fox Covert.

The Rev Father Gordon Abbs officiated.
