A TEENAGER who accidentally stepped out in front of a bus causing it to slam on its brakes was assaulted by one of the angry passengers.
The 16-year-old was left nursing a badly swollen nose after the incident the other Saturday. His angry mum told the Star that the attack happened after the bus slammed to a halt on Hall Street, near the Hardshaw Centre to avoid hitting her son.
She said: "My son was crossing the road but he didn't see the bus coming. Then a man got off the bus, grabbed him and punched him in the face.
"The force of it smacked him against the wall. And if it hadn't have been for a passer-by dragging him off I dread to think what would have happened. He had blurred vision and wasn't able to breathe through his nose".
The attacker is described as being between 25 and 35 with a heavy build and about six feet tall. He was dressed in a blue T-shirt and jeans.
